Description

James Gadson, who came to Japan for "Drum Magazine Festival 2012," realized this dream collaboration through an offer from his former disciple Takashi Numazawa! Japan's proud blues band blues.the-butcher-590213 recorded a live album in 2012 with legendary drummer James Gadson, who passed away on April 2, 2026, as a guest, and released it the following year as "The Sure Shot." From that album, the famous song "Kansas City," also covered by The Beatles and themed around Gadson's hometown of Kansas City, is cut as a single. The coupling track "Linda Lou" is a 1959 hit song by R&B singer and guitarist Ray Sharpe, also covered by The Rolling Stones although unreleased. Gadson performs lead vocals on both tracks, while the "master and disciple" twin drums of the great master of black music and Takashi Numazawa create supreme grooves within simple blues beats!
