[Machine Translation] Lim Kah Wai is a Chinese-Malaysian who has been active mainly in Osaka. 大阪を中心に活動を続けている、中華系マレーシア人リム・カーワイ。彼はカメラ一つその肩に背負って、地元大阪はもちろん、香港やバルカン半島へと単身赴き、ほぼ即興で演出するというスタイルを貫いている。その彼が、『新世界の夜明け』(2012)、『Fly Me To Minami 恋するミナミ』(2013)に次いで大阪三部作の最終章との位置付けで発表したのが本作。今の日本が抱える様々な断面を、彼特有のユーモアと皮肉を利かせた軽妙なスケッチの積み重ねで集約させていく。9カ国・地域に及ぶ様々な国籍・言語・人種のキャラクターたちによって紡がれる複雑な背景の物語を、気持ちいいほどに巧妙に捌き分け、しかしその語り口はオフビートで心地よい。その手腕に敬服する圧巻の2時間38分! 日本からは、千原せいじ、桂雀々ら関西の人気喜劇人や、渡辺真起子、兎丸愛美、尚玄らが参加。アジアからはツァイ・ミンリャン監督作品の主演で知られる台湾のリー・カンション、『ソン・ランの響き』が本国ベトナムで大ヒットを記録し、日本でも多くのファンを獲得しているリエン・ビン・ファット、『My Dream My Life』で森崎ウィンとの共演で話題を集めたミャンマーのナン・トレイシー、マレーシアでの人気を基盤にアジア全域で活躍するJ・C・チー、ネパールの国民的な若手民謡歌手モウサム・グルンなど、国籍を超えたバラエティー豊かなキャストが集結しているのも、この映画の大きな魅力の一つ。これまで見たことのないような大阪の風景。長く大阪に生活のベースを置いているカーワイ監督だからこそ見える景色を見事に具現化したのは、『ミスター・ロン』『ボルトの恋人たち』などで知られる撮影の古屋幸一。また、リム・カーワイ特有のオフビートな世界観を音にして表現したのは、『舟を編む』『湯を沸かすほどの熱い愛』などの渡邊崇。他にも『ハッピーアワー』『おっさんのケーフェイ』などの録音・松野泉、『光』『Vision』など河瀬直美作品で知られる美術の藤原達昭ら、現代日本映画を支える先鋭スタッフが参加。
