落語を地で行く破天荒な大名人! 楽しく、おもしろく軽妙な語り口、奔放な芸風が今なお万人に愛される。昭和が生んだ最大の落語家の一席。今回の演目は、全編とも志ん生が病に倒れる(昭和36年)少し前の録音。いわばその芸の絶頂期のものである。其の一「粗忽長屋」(1957年7月12日放送)、其の二「お初徳兵衛」(1958年5月9日放送)、其の三「幾代餅」(1959年12月11日放送)を収録。
