[Machine Translation] OMD, the king of ele-pop, released their 12th album with splendid guests. The duo, consisting of Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys, had a big hit "The Tragedy of the Enola Gay" and are so popular that they appeared at the opening ceremony of the London Olympics last year. This is their 12th original album, following their last album "History of Modern" ( 2010 ). The last album, which was the first newly recorded album in 24 years, was full of pop synth sounds, which reassured the fans. The new album is no different, and is full of electronic sounds that can be described as OMD's signature. The main feature of the new album is a cover of Elektric Music's "Kissing The Machine," a techno unit formed by Carl Bartos, a former member of Kraftwerk, the originators of elepop/techno-pop. エレ・ポップの王道OMD、豪華ゲストを迎えた12作目。70年代から活動を続けるイギリスはリヴァプール出身のエレポップ・デュオ。「エノラ・ゲイの悲劇」というビッグ・ヒットを飛ばしたアンディ・マクラスキーとポール・ハンフリーズのふたりからなるこのユニットは、昨年のロンドン・オリンピックのオ―プニング・セレモニーにも登場したほどの高い人気を誇る。オリジナル・アルバムとしては前作『ヒストリー・オブ・モダーン』(2010)に続く12作目となる。一時はアンディのソロとして活動していたが、ポールが復帰してデュオ形態に戻っての実に24年ぶりの新録音アルバムとなった前作は、ポップなシンセ・サウンドを満載したOMD節全開の内容でファンを安心させた。そして今回の新作もその路線に大きな変化はなく、OMD印とも言えるエレクトロニック・サウンドが満載されている。大きな話題はElektric Music「Kissing The Machine」をカバーしていること。Elektric Musicはエレポップ/テクノポップの元祖、クラフトワークの元メンバー、カール・バルトスによるテクノ・ユニット。しかも本人も参加! これは大事件だ!
