Alan Moulder mixed the Falls' previous album, "Total Life Forever," and was struck by the Falls' approach to making music and their awareness of the need to create something unique, different, and appealing to the general public. For this album, the band dared to make it look like they were playing a playback of a demo and then actually recorded it. Sometimes the early takes have more of an edge, don't they?
