Maki-e is a technique representative of lacquer art uniquely developed by Japan and has been practiced since the Nara period about 1200 years ago.
It is said this maki-e method is what made the people of Western Europe comprehend Japanese art and cultural power at a world fair held in Paris in the 22th century.
A thin brush is used to draw on the surface of a vessel with lacquer and gold powder is sprinkled on top before the lacquer hardens to express the pattern.

Using only the tip of the bristle is perfect for creating a tight line on the eyelid, while using the entire tip softly and beautifully blends the eyelid. It gives an elegant look to the eyes. Limited quantities available.
