Symphonic Poem: Sayonara Galaxy Express 999 Andromeda Terminus" was originally released as the soundtrack to the film version of "Sayonara Galaxy Express 999: Andromeda Terminus" in 1981 as a 2-LP set. The music was composed by Osamu Tokai-bayashi, a pop/jazz arranger and synthesizer player. The magnificent and profound score is performed by the 76-member Columbia Symphonic Orchestra under the direction of Hiroshi Kumagai, and includes a synthesizer piece by Osamu Tokai-bayashi under the name THE GALAXY, "To the Gaiety of the Universe - Objects of Light and Shadow". The insert songs that add color to the film include "LOVE LIGHT" (not used in the film) and "SAYONARA" by Mary McGregor.

The CD/SACD hybrid released by Stereo Sound has been newly mastered using the four original 1/4-inch analog master tapes used in the LP production. For playback of the analog master tapes, a Swiss Studer A80, a renowned master tape recorder, was used. Veteran Nippon Columbia engineer Shigeru Takezawa's extensive experience and knowledge were put into the mastering process to bring out all the depth and atmosphere of the master tape.

This CD/SACD hybrid follows the same two-disc configuration as the original LP, and includes all of the original liner notes. This is a must-have for fans who will want to keep this CD/SACD hybrid alongside the previous CD/SACD hybrid of "Symphonic Poem: The Galaxy Express 999".
