他を圧倒する美の破壊力、エトワール。2020年のフォトエッセイ『SINCERE』以来4年ぶりとなる川村ソロの書籍。『Etoile』(エトワール)は【1:星 2:花形、スター】という意味のフランス語で、川村自身が内包する"圧倒的なスター性"が写真集全体に散りばめられた作品となっている。パリに生まれ育った19世紀の象徴主義を代表する画家ギュスターヴ=モローの美術館と、フランス北部にある19世紀に建てられた古城を貸切っての撮影を敢行。ともに写真集での撮影許可がおりたのは国内外合わせて今回が初のこと。壁一面にモローの絵画が飾られ、印象的な螺旋階段がある美術館の空間に、深紅のジャケットを気高く着こなした川村が立つ姿は圧巻。川や池、プール、隠し部屋などがある東京ドーム10個分の広大な土地に建てられた古城では、1日たっぷりと優雅な時間を過ごした。写真集の購入特典として、これまでにない特別な特典をフランスで仕込んできている。ファンが喜ぶこと間違いない本企画も発売に向けて順次解禁されていく予定だ。
