1995年にフジテレビ系列の『世界名作劇場』シリーズの第21作目として放送された日本アニメーション制作のテレビアニメ「ロミオの青い空」が放送終了から26年経って待望のミュージカル化。演出を西森英行氏、脚本に鄭 光誠氏、音楽は和田俊輔氏がそれぞれ担当し、全28曲を披露する壮大なミュージカルになった。 ――19世紀後半・イタリアの国境に近いスイスの小さな村で少年ロミオは、貧しくも家族で幸福に暮らしていた。しかし一家の畑を悪人の陰謀で失ってしまい、ロミオは家計を助けるために、自らを人買いに売りミラノへ煙突掃除夫としてやって来る。きつい煙突掃除の仕事や親方一家の辛い仕打ち、地元の不良少年団「狼団」との争いなど、ロミオにとって厳しい毎日が続くが、親方の娘アンジェレッタの励ましや親友アルフレド、煙突掃除の仲間たちと助け合って暮らしていく。そして仲間と共に「黒い兄弟」を結成し、強く友情を誓うのだった。
