80年代～90年代初頭にかけてここ日本でも人気を博し、来日公演も行ったこともあるバンドWHITE LION。バンドの中心人物となったのがヴォーカリストのマイク・トランプとギタリストのヴィト・ブラッタである。1985年に『Fight to Survive』でデビュー。次作『Pride』はシングル・カットされた「Wait」「Tell Me」「When The Children Cry」が大ヒットし、バンドは一躍スターダムへ上り詰める。3作目の『Big Game』でもバンドの代表曲となった「Little Fighter」「Cry for Freedom」を生み出したものの、チャートでは前作ほどの成功を収められなかった。そして4作目の『Mane Attraction』リリース後の1991年にバンドは解散する。解散後ヴィト・ブラッタは音楽業界から引退したが、マイク・トランプはFREAK OF NATURE等の活動を経てソロ・アーティストとして活動。その後一時期はマイクがWHITE LIONの名義を使って活動することに対し、バンド名使用権を巡って法的にヴィトと争うなどの問題が発生したものの、現在はマイクがWHITE LIONを名乗り活動している。それ以降マイクは過去の楽曲をリレコーディングした作品を現在までに数作リリースしているが、2023年には『ソングス・オヴ・ホワイト・ライオン』という形で再びWHITE LION時代の楽曲をリレコーディング。様々な経験を経て成長したマイクの味わい深い歌声で新たに生まれ変わった名曲の数々を堪能できる作品となり好評を得た。その好評を得て第二弾となるVol.2の製作が決定。Vol.1に収録しきれなかった楽曲が収められている。※本商品は金曜販売開始商品のため、商品のお届けは発売日当日以降になります。
