Selected by music writer Hitoshi Kurimoto and built around urban, cool city pop that shines against Tokyo night views and drives on the metropolitan expressway. Reflecting the movement that followed the city pop revival of the 2010s, this is a city pop compilation with a fresh sensibility that, in addition to standard classics, keeps an eye on city pop in the broad sense, extending to fusion, disco boogie, and idol pop. With resort flavors kept in check, its lineup also caters to inbound demand, featuring songs that went viral overseas, songs with high YouTube and subscription streaming counts, and tracks that use sampling. The cover illustration uses a work by Hiroshi Nagai, who can be called a symbol of city pop. Released as a compilation with an unprecedented approach.
