【URCレコード・オリジナルアルバム復刻企画第一弾】日本のインディ・レーベルの先駆けとして1969年に産声をあげ、70年代末に活動を終了したURC (アングラ・レコード・クラブ)。はっぴいえんど、岡林信康、高石ともや、西岡たかし、高田渡、その他多くの先鋭的な才能が集ったURCは日本のフォーク/ロックの祖と言える存在。その発売権が2023年ソニーミュージックに移り、6月よりURC名盤群の数々のCD再発がスタート。 本作「かっこいいことはなんてかっこ悪いんだろう」はジャックス解散直後の1969年11月に発表された。バンドサウンドとは大きく異なり全編を通して、ほぼ弾き語りで人間の持つ閉塞感を赤裸々に語っている。その楽曲は陰鬱な雰囲気が立ち込めていて、重く切なく聴くたびに彼の孤独の叫びが切々と伝わってくる。収録曲の「サルビアの花」はさまざまなアーティストがカバーしていることでも有名。2023年最新リマスター/高品質Blu-spec CD2仕様。
