This movie is phenomenal! I've seen it probably a dozen times over the past 20 years and it never loses its shine. One of my favorite things about MM is that while they're serious (and seriously talented) musicians, they don't take themselves or their personas too seriously, and that really comes through here. The costumes and sets are quite lovely, and the fantastic Bara no Konrei album serves as the soundtrack. The translated English subtitles are comical at times, but that only adds to the melodramatic charm. Klaha stars as the film's Jonathan Harker stand-in opposite a scene-stealing Yu~ki's villainous Earl (not Count), both vying for the affections of Klaha's fiancee. Mana plays a nun with a mysterious connection to the Earl as well as a brooding vampire played by Ko:zi. The finer points of the plot aren't terribly clear; even after having seen it so many times, I still have tons of questions! The film is beautiful, bombastic, and campy in a way that's familiar to any fan of their live concerts. It feels like a natural progression of their journey, including the darker tone that emerged after the loss of Kami. While Bara no Konrei won't appeal to everyone, it's a must-see for fans of the band.

I'm a MALICE MIZER fan since their Voyage era and all hands down to them after watching their first silent movie (the one based on Bel air single). All I can say is I was totally disappointed by Bara no Konrei. Inspired by the story of Bram Stoker's Dracula, Bara no Konrei is like a B grade adaptation of it. I don't know what happened to them (or to me!). I do believe that my beloved band could do far, far better than this.
Bara no Konrei I belive is designed the way movies were back when they werent meant to have much sound. As they say actions speak louder then words. I believe this movies has an artistic point of view and is very beatiful as well as hard to get ones hands on. I have seen the movie in full on you-tube an online website. I was facinated. It is a shame the the malice mizer artists no longer group with one another. But I do encourage you as well as many malice mizer fans to look this movie up and write your point of view through here. :) make it your choice.
