THE BEGINNING

"Swing, Soul & Sisterhood. THE BEGINNING" -- Kiyoshi Matsuo. Miki Miyamoto has been expanding her range of activity, working as a singer-songwriter both in Japan and abroad, and in recent years also serving as a vocal trainer on the Netflix series "timelesz project -AUDITION-". The jazz band miki et nana, formed centered around her, marks its third year since formation and releases its long-awaited debut album. With "mellow, glossy retro bluesy jazz" as the band's concept, this work includes six original songs, including the title track "The Beginning," co-written by all members for the first time, plus a cover of Earth, Wind & Fire's "Fantasy" featuring guest saxophonist Miku Yonezawa, and a cover of "Suzhou Nocturne" (composed by Ryoichi Hattori, lyrics by Yaso Saijo), which embodies another concept of "reviving the good old Showa-era jazz for today," for eight tracks in all. This is a noteworthy new work of vocal jazz that resonates broadly, from listeners who love standard jazz to pop fans.
