Description

[Machine Translation] A wealthy bourgeois woman invites a young stranger, soaking wet on a park bench adjacent to her house, into her home, bathes him, and feeds him, beginning a strange relationship between the two. This film is part of a thriller/horror/fantasy film trilogy that explores the relationship between women and personality disorders. Based on a full-length novel by Richard Miles, a Hollywood child actor turned writer. Although this is an early work in Altman's career, it challenges the themes of female obsession and sexual frustration, and the use of Laszlo Kovacs as cinematographer (who also shot Easy Rider in the same year as this film) is a bold attempt to create bold images. Sandy Dennis' sensitive performance is also excellent. Commentary leaflet/postcard enclosed.

裕福なブルジョワの婦人が、自宅に隣接する公園のベンチでずぶ濡れになっている見知らぬ青年を家に招き入れ、風呂に入れて食事を与えたことがきっかけとなり、二人の奇妙な関係が始まる・・・ 後の『イメージズ』『三人の女』と併せて、女性とパーソナリティ障害の関係を探求したスリラー/ホラー/幻想映画的三部作を構成する一編。原作はハリウッド映画の子役から作家に転身したリチャード・マイルズの長編小説。アルトマンのキャリアにおける初期作品だが、女性の強迫観念や性的欲求不満というテーマに挑戦、撮影監督にラズロ・コヴァックス(本作と同年に『イージー・ライダー』を撮っている)を起用して大胆な画面作りを試みている。サンディ・デニスの繊細な演技も素晴らしい。解説リーフレット/ポストカード封入。
