The film will be digitally restored in 2019 with the participation of the Martin Scorsese Film Foundation, which is also funded by the George Lucas Family Foundation, and finally landed in Japan for the first time in July 2022 after more than 50 years. Robert Downey produced and wrote the screenplay for the film along with the director. Associate producer was Ronald Sullivan, who later became very successful in the pornographic film industry under the name Henri Pachard. The cinematography was by Gerald Kotz, who won an Academy Award for Technical Achievement in 2005. Editing is by Bud S. Smith, twice nominated for an Academy Award for The Exorcist (1974) and Flashdance (1984). The music is an original composition by Charlie Kuba, who also collaborated with Downey on his next film, "Pound" (yet to be released). The title design is by Chamayeff & Geismar, one of the best advertising design teams in the U.S. Everyone has seen over a hundred corporate logos by Chamayeff & Geismar, including those of NBC Network, Pan Am, and Mobil Oil. This is the only film they have worked on, and its simple yet bold design is sure to resonate with the forward-thinking sensibilities of the big-name creators. And although this is a black-and-white film, one of the highlights of the film is the many unique television commercial scenes, which are presented in color and vividly convey the atmosphere of the era. --1960s New York. The founder of a prestigious advertising firm suddenly dies, and the firm's only black executive, Putney Swope, is unexpectedly elected as the new president.
