[ベリー・ベスト・クラシック1000 II ] ドイツ・シャルプラッテンに20世紀音楽作品を一手に録音したケーゲル。本盤ではヒンデミット晩年の交響曲2曲が聴ける。ひとつは望遠鏡やケプラーの法則で有名な天文学者ヨハネス・ケプラーを主人公としたオペラ「世界の調和」の交響曲版、もう1つはピッツバーグ市200年祭を記念し同地方に伝わる民謡をも取り入れた交響曲。どちらも貴重な名演。
