Live at Vidro '77

Swirling heat, surging passion. Here is the raw, unguarded Ryo Fukui in a form previously unheard. A completely unreleased live recording that would later serve as the catalyst for the birth of "Mellow Dream". It is astonishing that Ryo Fukui left behind a recording like this. Captured on June 8, 1977, this never-before-released performance was recorded at the live music venue Bido in Sapporo by producer Masataka Ito, who also worked on Fukui's "Scenery" and "Mellow Dream". It is truly the Fukui Trio of that era, yet it also carries an overwhelming intensity and freshness not found in the studio recordings, making it thrilling beyond words. The scorching 16-minute "Mellow Dream" goes without saying, alongside the driving "Speak Low", the elegantly spun "Body & Soul", the fast-running "Love For Sale", the weighty "Mr. P.C.", and the spilling-over "My Foolish Heart" - a stunning performance, feverish with heat. At the time, excerpts from this live recording were approved at Trio Records, which led to the production of the second album "Mellow Dream". A precious recording in every sense.
