She plans to introduce them to her parents and ask their permission to marry. Then a storm hits the Saiki family. Chotaro is suddenly fired from his job. Chotaro sensed something suspicious about a business meeting the president was conducting, and pointed out the danger of it. As he expected, the president took offense. At a loss, Chotaro visited his relatives and acquaintances, only to be politely turned away. Walking around town aimlessly, thinking of his family, Chotaro visited his cousin Sutekichi and his wife who lived in downtown. Sutekichi was engaged in a business of renting hot-water bottles to prostitutes in a nearby entertainment district called "Dove Street. Sutekichi and his wife comfort Chotaro and suggest that he open up everything to Kinuko and help them with their business. Chotaro was not sure what to say, but he was on his way home. When Chotaro meets Tokiko at his house, he tells her about the incident, but reminds her not to let Kinuko alone know about it. Just then, Nobuo's transfer to Hiroshima was decided.
