笑顔まで、あと少し。前を向けば、本当の自分がそこにいる。不器用で引っ込み思案なヒロインは、あなたかもしれません。NHK連続テレビ小説「梅ちゃん先生」、連続テレビドラマ「結婚できない男」、「オトナ女子」などで知られる人気脚本家・尾崎将也による、門脇麦を主演に迎えた長編映画監督作。――小沼真実(門脇麦)は、高校の頃から5年間引きこもりとなり、自分の部屋で好きな漫画やイラストをひたすら正確に模写することで現実逃避をしていた。父・英輔(マキタスポーツ)と母・美佳(YOU)は離婚し、真実は父との2人暮らし。心配性の父のすすめでゲーム会社のバグ出しの仕事を始めるが、ひょんなことからそのゲーム会社に勤める矢部遼太郎(三浦貴大)が担当するゲームのイラストに手を加えたことで、真実の絵の才能が認められる。ある日、遼太郎から「自由に描いていいから」とゲームキャラクターのイラストを頼まれ、彼への仄かな恋心もあり遼太郎の役に立ちたいと描くことに向き合おうとするのだが・・・。
