[ユニバーサル・シネマ・コレクション] いまや伝説的作品となった傑作アニメーション、遂に初Blu-ray化! 1952年に、フランス初の長編アニメーション映画「やぶにらみの暴君」として公開。世界中で高い評価を受け、日本のアニメクリエイターにも多大な影響を与えた。ポール・グリモー監督が、自ら望む内容へ大幅に変更し、1979年、本作「王と鳥」として完成。2006年、本作は日本でも劇場公開される。――暴君シャルル16世が支配するタキカルディ王国の、天高くそびえた宮殿の最上階にある秘密の部屋には、美しい羊飼いの娘と煙突掃除の青年、そして王の肖像画が飾られていた。ある夜、恋する娘と青年が、娘を狙う肖像画の王から逃げ出すため絵の中から抜け出してしまう。それを許さない肖像画の王も絵から飛び出し、本物の王に代わって二人を捕えるために大捜索を命じる。一方、娘と青年は一羽の鳥の先導で、迷路のような階段を駆け降りていく・・・。
