再評価が高まる新東宝作品から、傑作怪談映画3タイトル同時リリース!! 毒にただれたお岩の死顔! 夜の隠亡堀に恨みの執念! 鶴屋南北の傑作『東海道四谷怪談』の映像化に毛利正樹監督が挑んだ傑作怪談映画。――伊右衛門はお岩の父に不義の子と罵られたことに激高し、斬殺してしまった。逃亡のため浪人となった伊右衛門は、お岩との貧しい生活に喘ぐこととなった。そんな中、伊右衛門の母・お槙は息子を大棚の婿養子にして民谷の家を再興しようと企て、貧乏に嫌気がさしていた伊右衛門はその謀に乗るのだった。お槙はお岩の毒殺を企て、その毒により顔が醜く変貌したお岩は伊右衛門を呪って絶命。伊右衛門は、お岩の死体を戸板に釘打ちして川に投げ込むのだった・・・。
