父と息子の絆を描いた『幸せのちから』で、世界中を涙で包んだガブリエレ・ムッチーノ監督。最新作ではニューヨークを舞台に、少女の成長物語を通して、父と娘のかけがえのない絆を描き上げる。娘のケイティには、『レ・ミゼラブル』のアマンダ・セイフライド。小説家の父のジェイクには、『グラディエーター』でアカデミー賞を受賞した名優ラッセル・クロウ。子供時代のケイティに扮するカイリー・ロジャーズの健気で可憐な姿からも目が離せない。――1989年、ニューヨーク。小説家のジェイク・デイヴィス(ラッセル・クロウ)は、妻と7歳の一人娘ケイティ(カイリー・ロジャーズ)との3人で、幸せな毎日を送っていた。しかし、ジェイクが起こした交通事故で妻が死亡。ジェイクも長期入院することになり、ケイティは妻の姉のエリザベス(ダイアン・クルーガー)に預けられる。7カ月後、退院したジェイクは真っ先に娘の元へと駆けつける。「もう離れない?」と不安げに聞くケイティに、これからは「ずっと一緒だ」とジェイクは答えるのだが・・・。
