語り継がれる名作をリメイクした感動の物語! 壮大な西部の自然を舞台に、馬との友情、親子の愛情を美しい映像で描く。 ――夏休みになって寄宿学校からケイティが帰ってきた。厳格な父が経営する牧場のほうが勉強よりも好きなケイティは、ある日、牧場近辺で野生馬<ムスタング>を発見。気性の荒いムスタングを手懐けようと考える。父たちはムスタングが牧場の馬をだめにすると警戒し、その馬を捕獲したうえ牧場内で隔離する。ケイティはムスタングに"かわいい娘"という意味を持つ「フリッカ」と名付けこっそりと調教を始めるが、それを知った父はフリッカをロデオに売り飛ばしてしまった。この件をきっかけにケイティは父と対立。2人の間に出来た溝はやがて大きな出来事へ発展する・・・。
