"Open Your Third Eye and Discover the True Breakthrough!" The latest title in the "AI: The Somnium Files" series arrives on PlayStation 5 as a new spin-off adventure. The first entry in the series was released in September 2019, followed by the second in June 2022. Both titles received high praise from mystery game fans around the world as full-scale investigative adventure games. This new work continues that legacy, bringing the distinctive atmosphere and storytelling of the series to a new level. In this story, Kaname Date, the protagonist of the first game, once again teams up with the eyeball-shaped AI, Aiba. Together, they set out to rescue the net idol known as A-set, or Iris Sagan, who has been abducted and forced to participate in a deadly escape game called "The Third Eye Game." One day after the resolution of the Second Cyclops Serial Killings, Iris suddenly disappears. At the same time, a strange coffin-like device is discovered in Tokyo, with a single note attached that reads "psync me." Following faint traces of communication with the missing Iris, Date and Aiba pursue the truth behind an impossible UFO sighting and face a new mystery that defies reason. The scenario is written by Kazuya Yamada of Spike Chunsoft, with Kotaro Uchikoshi, the original creator of the series, serving as scenario supervisor. Character design is once again handled by Yusuke Kozaki, and sound is produced by Keisuke Ito, maintaining the signature creative team of the series. The game also features enhanced 4K resolution support, making the atmosphere even more immersive and visually striking on PlayStation 5. Gameplay unfolds as a full-scale mystery adventure consisting of three parts: Investigation, Somnium, and the newly added Escape part. Each part offers a distinct experience and a different playable character. In the Investigation part, players follow Date as he searches for Iris's whereabouts by exploring various locations in the real world, examining crime scenes, and questioning related individuals. As a member of ABIS, Date makes use of his professional investigative skills and the advanced functions built into his prosthetic left eye, the AI-Ball, which is equipped with a wide range of analytical capabilities to uncover clues and progress through the story. The Somnium part allows players to enter the dreams of key witnesses and suspects using the Psync device, a core feature of the series. Inside the dream world, Aiba takes on a human form connected to Date's consciousness and conducts the investigation in his place. The player must explore the subject's subconscious, solving various psychological puzzles and overcoming obstacles within a strict six-minute time limit to discover hidden memories and truths that are buried deep within the mind. The newly added Escape part plays like a classic escape game, where the player investigates a confined room filled with interactive objects and items, collecting information, solving mechanisms, and finding a way out. In this section, Iris Sagan becomes a playable character for the first time in the series, allowing players to experience the narrative from her perspective and uncover a different side of the unfolding mystery. The cast features Kaname Date (CV: Tarusuke Shingaki), Aiba (CV: Akari Kito), Iris Sagan (CV: Nao Shiraki), Hina Tsukiyono (CV: Fairouz Ai), and Akemi (CV: Nanako Mori). The game supports one player and offers text in Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and English, with full voice acting available in both Japanese and English. Rated CERO C for ages fifteen and up.
