Description

"12 Monkeys" is a quintessential Terry Gilliam film in the tradition of "Brazil." In a possible future, 99% of Earth's human population has been wiped out by an unknown virus, and a convict named James Cole (Bruce Willis) is forced to "volunteer" to go back in time to investigate about the origin of the disaster. However, he is mistakenly sent to a different year and from then on he goes back and forth through time, and like Billy Pilgrim in Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five (whose film version was directed by George Roy Hill), Cole has no control over where he's tripping next. Brad Pitt stars as a disturbed madman who may hold keys to the origins of the epidemic. Madeleine Stowe, David Morse, and Christopher Plummer co-star.
