Description

[Machine Translation] This 26-episode TV drama series was produced with almost the same staff and cast as "Shinsengumi Kofuroku" produced in 1965 (Showa 40). While "Shinsengumi Kofuroku" was a coming-of-age ensemble drama, this film stars Hijikata Toshizo, and the story progresses from his point of view. This is the definitive version of "Shinsengumi," a period drama series written by Ryotaro Shiba that depicts the formation of the Shinsengumi, the Ikedaya Incident, the Battle of Toba-Fushimi, and the death of Hijikata Toshizo in Hakodate. Broadcast from April to September 1970 on the NET (now TV Asahi) network. Volume 4 contains episodes 11-14.

1965年 (昭和40年) に制作された「新撰組血風録」とほぼ同じスタッフとキャストで制作された全26話のテレビドラマシリーズ。「新撰組血風録」が青春群像劇なのに対し、本作は土方歳三を主役に据え、彼の視点で物語が進行する。新撰組結成から池田屋事件、鳥羽伏見の戦いを経て土方歳三が函館で戦死するまでを描いた司馬遼太郎原作の幕末青春時代劇『新撰組』の決定版。また、後続の作品に対する新撰組のイメージ形成に多大な影響を与えた作品でもある。1970年4月～9月 NET (現・テレビ朝日) 系列にて放送。第11話～第14話を収録の第4巻。
