『SHERLOCK』『ローマ[ROME]』のBBCが製作した170分を超す超大作戦争スペクタクル! 海の狼Uボートの決死の救出ミッションを描く。――1942年8月、エジプトのスエズ港から、民間人や軍人、計二千数百人を乗せた元客船の英国軍輸送船"ラコニア号"はリバプールへ出航するが、西アフリカ上でドイツ潜水艦・Uボート"U‐156号"に遭遇、攻撃を受け沈没する。しかし"ラコニア号"に、民間人が大勢乗っていた事を知った"U‐156号"艦長ハルテンシュタインは独断で生存者たちの救助を命令。数百名の生存者を救出したために定員を大幅に超えた"U‐156号"は潜行が出来ず、自らの身を危険にさらす事に・・・。
