暴力団対策法施行後、ヤクザたちの"シノギ"の場は狭められ、解散・撤退を余儀なくされた。だがその一方で、法の網を喰いちぎり、政・財界に暗躍、「闇世界のドン」としてヤクザ世界に君臨する男がいた。地上げ、不正融資、あらゆる利権の影で、経済ヤクザとしての才能を発揮しつつ、力量を問われるヤクザ社会でも実力を持つ男、東日本に根拠を持つ大和会理事長・江田晋である。本作品は、人々が「蠍(さそり)」と呼ぶこの主人公・江田の鮮烈な生きざまを軸に、銀行の合併劇、金屏風事件など、実際に起こった事件をリアルなフィクションとして謳い上げ、バブル全盛に培った日本経済の闇の部分で蠢くアンダーマネー、熾烈な暴力抗争の裏側を鋭く捉え、<民事介入暴力>の本当の姿を描き出す。キャストは、小林旭、菅原文太、渡瀬恒彦のビッグ3に、七瀬なつみ、芦川よしみの女優陣、丹波哲郎、高松英郎、川地民夫、名高達郎、坂上忍ほか、オールスターが顔を揃える。監督は、「さらば愛しのやくざ」「極道(やくざ)渡世の素敵な面々」などの一連のヤクザ映画で定評のある和泉聖治。 1993年6月公開。ニュープリント・コンポーネントマスター。
