Dark Queen Mantra - Terry Riley, Stefano Scodanibbio

They sometimes collaborate with the San Francisco Symphony and give lectures at universities to promote new music, and this time they are performing a new work by Terry Riley, a great minimalist musician, in honor of his 80th birthday. They also devoted themselves to showcasing the work of Italian composer Stefano Scodanibbio, who died in 2012 with little recognition despite his great talent. Both the crisp music of Riley's "Dark QueenMantra" with guitar by Gyan Riley and Scodanibbio's transformations of Monteverdi's music evoke nostalgic emotions in the listener's heart. 2017年に結成25周年を迎える"デル・ソル弦楽四重奏団"。設立当初から20世紀~21世紀の作品ばかりを好んで演奏し、これまでに委嘱作を含め、100曲以上の新作を世界初演しています。時にはサンフランシスコ交響楽団とコラボしたり、大学での講義を行うなど、新しい音楽の普及に力を尽くす彼ら、今作ではミニマル・ミュージックの大家であるテリー・ライリーの80歳を記念し、新作を演奏しています。また、素晴らしい才能を有していたにもかかわらず、ほとんど知られることなく2012年に亡くなったイタリアの作曲家ステファノ・スコダニッビオの作品を紹介することにも力を注ぎました。ギャン・ライリーのギターを伴うライリーの「Dark QueenMantra」での切れの良い音楽、モンテヴェルディの音楽を変容させたスコダニッビオの音楽、どちらも聴き手の心に懐かしい感情を呼び起こします。東洋的な雰囲気を持つ「The Wheel and Mythic Birds Waltz」も不思議な音楽です。録音年: 2016年2月22-26日
