Description

[Machine Translation] Master filmmaker Elia Kazan's adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play of the same name by Tennessee Williams. The story follows Blanche, a woman who comes to New Orleans to visit her sister Stella, but her dark past is revealed by her sister's husband Stanley, who hates her, and she becomes mentally ill. Vivian Leigh gives an impassioned performance as Blanche, a woman with a very different demeanor from Scarlett in "Gone with the Wind" (1939). Marlon Brando, who was introduced to Japan for the first time through this film, also shines with his wild male charm. The film won the 1951 Academy Awards for Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Art Direction and Set Design.
