Monte Walsh

[Machine Translation] [William A. Fraker, the master cinematographer of "Britt," presents an emotional portrayal of men defying and living in their own way in the dying days of the West. --Monte and his partner Chet return to their ranch, which has been bought out by an Eastern financier due to damage from a heavy snowfall. Monte gets back together with Martine, a saloon girl, and Chet becomes a close friend of Mary, a hardware store widow. One day, while they are chasing a cow, two men arrive claiming to be Powder and Rufus, an old acquaintance of Shorty the trainer. They come looking for work, but rather than hire the two men, the parent company orders the young Shorty and the others to be fired and leave the ranch. As the town's economy cools, Martine tells Monte that she is moving to Charlieville, 65 kilometers away. Monte gives her a large sum of money as a parting gift and cuts her hair, as he had always done for her. One rainy day, Rufus and Powder shoot and kill a marshal who shows up at a tavern.
