18歳で渡辺貞夫カルテットのリズム・キーパーとしてデビュー以来、2017年でドラマー生活45周年を迎えた守新治が、ベースに俊英・笠原本章を、そしてピアノにウラジミール・シャフラノフを迎え、横浜希望が丘の"CASK"で行った2017年12月24、25日のクリスマス・セッションをライヴ収録。事前の音合わせなし、打合せもなしのステージは、シャフラノフが繰り出すメロディに瞬時に応える白熱の真剣勝負。クリスマスの2日間計4ステージを100分に凝縮した、圧巻の2枚組。なお、本作は英国メディリアン社が開発した24ビットサウンドをCDに記録するMQA (Master Quality Authenticated)を採用。通常のCDプレーヤーでの再生のほか、MQA対応機器を用いると、176.4MHz、24bitのサウンドでの再生が可能になっている。
