This is a film adaptation of a performance that took place in 2008 at Heisei Nakamura-za, a temporary playhouse that appeared on the grounds of Senso-ji temple in Asakusa. Kanzaburo Nakamura plays the role of Hokaibo, a bold monk, in this humorous portrayal of a monk who does evil deeds but is an unlikable character. Kazumi Kushida, an actor and stage director, directed the film. In "Futaomote mizutemizuteru tsuki," one of the major highlights of the play, a woman (Kanzaburo) who sells leeks (shinobu) and looks just like Ogumi, a combination of the spirits of Hokkai-bo and Princess No-bu, gradually reveals her true nature in a varied and fascinating dance performance. シネマ歌舞伎シリーズ待望のDVD化! HDカメラで撮影した歌舞伎の舞台公演を、ご自宅で高画質、高音質で楽しんで頂けます。 2008年、浅草の浅草寺境内に出現した仮設の芝居小屋平成中村座で行われた舞台の映像化。中村勘三郎が豪放な坊主の法界坊を演じ、悪行を行うものの憎めないキャラクターの坊主をユーモラスに描く。俳優で舞台演出家としても活躍する串田和美が演出を手掛けた。大きな見どころのひとつ大切所作事「双面水照月(ふたおもてみずにてるつき)」では、法界坊と野分姫の霊が合体したお組そっくりな葱(しのぶ)売りの女(勘三郎)が、徐々に本性を現しながら変化に富んだ舞踊劇を魅せる。特製アウターケース付き。
