The coupling piece "Shikokorozashi - Shugyo" was selected as the theme of this year's federation, and was supervised by Dr. Gen Kano, who released it in competition with Ms. Wakko Yoshikawa. The "Mahoroba Hymn" has been a hit throughout Japan, with such songs as "Sun", "Etsuriko no Onna", and "Futari no Tairyo bushi" being among the hits that have come out of the "RENGO Suisei Uta".

「まほろば賛歌」は昭和40年代発表された作品で、《素晴らしい作品なのに、ヒットしないのは何故》と問題意識を持ち、みちのく路発のヒット曲作りに取り組んでいる「みちのく歌謡文化連盟」結成の原点とも言える作品です。抒情詩で、ふるさとの原風景が歌い込まれ、聞く人にやすらぎを与えます。カップリング作品の「志こころざし～修行」は、今年度の連盟のテーマとして募集した作品で、叶弦大先生が監修、吉川わこさんとタイトルだけの競作として発売しています。「連盟推選歌」から「孫」「江釣子のおんな」「ふたりの大漁節」などのヒットが生まれており、全国的な関心が集まる中、「まほろば賛歌」ヒットへの期待が高まり、今回CD発売に至りました。
