「ドラマー工藤悠のTRIPLET'Sデビュ・アルバム」 瀬川昌久(ジャズ評論家) ドラマー工藤悠をリーダーとするトリオ、TRIPLET'S(トリプレッツ)のデビュ・アルバムが完成した。最近のピアノ・ブームでピアニスト名義のトリオ・アルバムは数え切れない程沢山出ているが、同じピアノ、ベース、ドラムスのトリオであり乍ら、このTRIPLET'Sのサウンドは他と違う大きな特色をもっている。 このグループは、2008年2月、工藤悠を中心に、ピアノの楠直孝、ベースのカイドー ユタカの3人で結成された。それ以前から共演を重ねる中、音楽的経歴や指向する音楽性が異なるにも拘わらず、3人共血液AB型、星座魚座の共通性もあるためか、非常に呼吸が合うのを感じていた。結成以来月に1～2回のライブを企画し、3人がオリジナル曲を出し合ってレパートリーを増やし、各人の個性を生かした。自由度の高い演奏を目指している。工藤悠のドラミングについては彼自身次のように語る。「自分のドラミングの一番の魅力は、ドラムの音色にあると思います。高度な技術を基礎にし乍ら、複雑難解な演奏に惰することなく、どれだけ良い音を出せるか、ということを追求している数少ないドラマーだと思っています。」 トリプレッツの演奏も、3人の特色ある個性的な高い音楽性を駆使し乍らも、選曲に留意して幅広いジャンルから楽しんで聞いて貰えるようなわかり易さを大切にしている。内容を豊富にするため、ゲストのボーカルやサックス・プレイヤーを加えることもある。3人共にルックスの良い30代のナイス・ガイであり、服装も白シャツで揃えるファッション・センスがあり、ターゲットとして、同じ30代のバリバリ働く独身女性など従来のジャズリスナーにとどまらない広い層の獲得を目指している。 本アルバムは全11曲、オリジナルは工藤が2曲、楠とカイドーが各1曲を提供し、あとはスタンダードからジャズ曲、ビートルズ、クラシック曲に至るまで、トリプレッツのモットーとする幅広い選曲と音楽性を表現し、2曲にサックス、1曲にボーカルを加えているのが興味深い。●演奏者 工藤 悠 : ドラムス 楠 直孝 : ピアノ カイドー ユタカ : ベース 黒沢 綾 : ボーカル 鹿嶋千鶴 : テナー・サックス
