[角川シネマコレクション2018年 10月度: 若尾文子特集] 芸術性か? 倫理性か? 問題を巻き起こした「チャタレイ夫人」の日本版! 性生活の不満に悩む人妻の性典映画! ――大正期。金沢師団配属の少佐・高島は演習に参加中、火薬事故で大腿部を負傷。それ以来、妻の朋子との間に子をもうけることをあきらめねばならなくなった。朋子は不幸な夫に献身的につくし、やがて高島は陸軍次官となる。その記念に、酒井という若い画家に肖像画を依頼した。肖像の出来や人柄が気に入った高島は、酒井の面倒を何かとみるようになるが、酒井の恋情と彼女自身の年来の不満が、とある夜、朋子に生涯一度のあやまちを犯させ、しかもその結果、彼女は妊娠した・・・。
