[Machine Translation] The second installment of the Showa-era fantasy special effects series! The film incorporates various elements from Kazuo Umezu's horror manga such as "Hebi Shoujo" and "Akanbo Shoujo", and Kazuo Umezu himself makes a cameo appearance as a cab driver, making this one of his favorite films. Director Noriaki Yuasa, cinematographer Akira Uehara, special cinematographer Kazufumi Fujii, and other staff members from the "Daikaiju Gamera" series gathered to create this terrifying film by combining the full power of Daiei's special effects technology. 昭和の空想大特撮シリーズ第2弾!! 「へび少女」「赤んぼう少女」など楳図かずおの恐怖漫画のさまざまな要素を取り入れて映画化で、楳図かずお自身がタクシー運転手の役でカメオ出演、本人もお気に入りの1作。2005年の「みうらじゅん的映画祭」でも上映。監督の湯浅憲明、撮影の上原明、そして特殊撮影: 藤井和文ら、「大怪獣ガメラ」シリーズのスタッフが集まり、大映特撮技術の総力を結集して恐怖映像を描く。赤ん坊のときに取替えられた2人の少女、少女の背中に蛇のウロコがぎっしり並ぶ、寝ていると天井から蛇が落ちてくるなど、楳図コミックの愛読者ならおなじみの恐怖シーンが続出。なかでも義理の妹の前で、カエルをまっ2つに引き裂くシーンがトラウマになった観客は多数。初DVD化。
