Mario Kart 7 [3DS]

Mario Kart 7 is a blast. There is plenty of new and plenty of a flash back from your past, if you played Mario Kart all the way back in its' SNES (SFAMICOM) release. One thing that some might appreciate, and some might not, is the absence of motorbikes from the Wii game. It's all karts. The customization is awesome for this game. Your karts abilities are affected by not only the character you play (weight class) but also by the kind of kart, wheels, and glider you use. You must play through the game to unlock more of the options, you only start with a few. This is a great job by Nintendo. This strategy had me playing so I could find out what new customize feature I would discover next. The race tracks are good with some new styled course, making it something a bit different. The soundtrack does a great job on complementing the race tracks. If you are someone who just wants to race you can start off with the fasted moving class right off the bat. If you are someone, like me, who likes to unlock what the game offers, you kind of have to to get the most out of it, then you spending time trying to complete all of the speed classes. Online racing makes a return after Mario Kart DS. It's fun playing against of other people who have the game. Of course, you can't have a racing game without Time Attack. There are even ghost racers made by the Retro Studios' staff. Can you best them all? The character roster is plenty, with some first time additions. Some may be disappointed with the lack of certain characters that were choices in Mario Kart Wii but there are great new, and old, choices. Many power-ups make yet another return, along with some surprising first time additions. It is racing, Mario style, so if you have played the games before you will know how intense the game can get.
