Kissa Rock 25 - Tsumujikaze no Asa

[Machine Translation] The legendary Kissa Rock" compilation series which, in 2001, drew in record labels and sparked a quiet wave of change in the Japanese music scene is being revived a quarter-century later. Since the City Pop revival, 1970s Japanese pop has been reevaluated across borders and is beginning to take on new value different from the past. This series is an anthology carefully curated with a contemporary aesthetic, focusing on hidden Japanese folky" gems songs with a deep, quiet groove that embody the musical spirit of Happy End, Haruomi Hosono, and others. This music, which evokes the aroma of coffee in traditional Japanese cafes and the nostalgia of retro Showa-era charm, resonates deeply with the recent Jazz Kissa" boom sweeping overseas, presenting Japanese music culture to the world. The track selection and supervision are handled by music writer Hitoshi Kurimoto, who has spearheaded the City Pop boom through works such as * The Basics of City Pop: Explained Through These 100 Albums!"* and who also produced the Japanese fusion compilation series * CROSSOVER CITY"* last year. The cover artwork is designed around the Showa-era Cafe" motif. It blends the nostalgic perspective of photographer Kayoko Yamamoto with the musical design of Sally Kubota, enriching the album s worldview through visual elements as well.
