Kitahachi Tappuri

[Machine Translation] Kitahachi Yanagiya is a popular rakugo performer who has won over a wide range of rakugo fans, not only among the more demanding experts, but also among young rakugo fans who have recently become interested in the genre, with his languid appearance that bears no resemblance to his bittersweet appearance. After graduating from Gakushuin University, he became a student of Yanagiya Kozoji, and while inheriting his master's aloofness, he added his own unique sense of goofiness, creating the comical style of rakugo that he is known for today. He is known to his fellow rakugo performers as "His Highness," a reference to the university he attended. This work is from a recording of "Kitahachi Kizakurige," a solo performance he began in 2006 at the Ginza Hakuhinkan Theater and continues to give about four times a year. Two copies will be released at the same time.

柳家喜多八は、落語についてはうるさ型の玄人筋の人気はもちろんのこと、近頃落語に目覚めた若い落語ファンからも、その苦みばしった風貌とは似つかわしくないけだるそうな登場姿で笑いをとり、幅広い落語ファンを獲得している人気者。学習院大学を卒業後、柳家小三治に入門、師匠の飄々とした味わいを受け継ぎつつ、さらに喜多八独自のとぼけ具合を積み重ね、おかしみ溢れる現在の芸風を築き上げた。出身大学にもちなんだ「殿下」というあだ名で落語家仲間から親しまれている。今作は、2006年からスタートさせた銀座博品館劇場における独演会で現在も年4回ほどのペースで行っている「喜多八膝栗毛」の録音からのもの。脂の乗りきっている喜多八ワールドを堪能できる1枚。2枚同時発売。
