This is probably the jazziest of Lonnie Liston Smith albums. It showcases the cohesive playing of the Cosmic Echoes band, Lonnie's non-binding piano, and soft vocals. Like on many other Lonnie's albums, the first track on "Expansions" is the most up-beat work. At the same time, the album provides more variety that other Lonnie's albums.

If you are a fan of jazz, fusion or funk, this album is a must-have. Psychedelic, ethereal, funky, driving and moody. Listen closely and you will hear the cosmic echoes. Smith is another of the Miles Davis alumni who took what he learned from Miles and created his own sound that seems to have further inspired other musicians as diverse as John Klemmer and Roxy Music's Avalon era. This current release has taken a great album and mastered the sound to be as pristine and dimensional as is currently possible.
