[Machine Translation] The Jeff Parker ETA Quartet consists of guitarist Jeff Parker, also known as a member of Tortoise, saxophonist Josh Johnson, bassist Anna Butters, and drummer Jay Bellarose. Three of the members, Parker, Butters, and Johnson, are also notable for their participation on the free solo debut Honora ("2026") by Letchli. The quartet grew out of a weekly residency Parker started in 2016 at ETA, a venue in northeast Los Angeles. Their latest release, Happy Today, will be released on Chicago's prestigious International Anthem label, as have their previous two releases. This album is a record of the band as of 2025, which grew out of a residency that began in 2016 at the ETA venue in Los Angeles. Together with Josh Johnson on saxophone, Anna Butters on bass, and Jay Bellarose on drums, the band performs minimal, genre-crossing improvisation. This album was recorded and mixed on the spot at the Lodge Room on August 20, 2025, and includes two long pieces that are equivalent to one side of an LP. The sound captured by engineer Bryce Gonzalez on his custom equipment vividly captures the sense of excitement and solidarity that emerged during a difficult time, and is an important work that embodies the band's essence of "place" and "dialogue," as well as Parker's recent and energetic career, including appearances on NPR's Tiny Desk.
