[Machine Translation] Grammy-nominated and Doris Duke Artist Award-winning jazz pioneer Cassa Overall has released a new album on ( Warp Records ). Reversing the conventional composition of hip-hop sampling jazz, and approaching hip-hop from jazz, this album is a transformation of Cassa Overall's own career, as if he had done a backflip in his own career. The album pays homage to two of Cassa's original passions: hip-hop and legendary jazz drummer Elvin Jones. Through a total of eight instrumental tracks, Cassa takes classic songs from hip-hop legends such as The Notorious B.I.G., Wu-Tang Clan, Dr. Dre, A Tribe Called Quest, Outkast, Degebre Planets, and Juvinair to clever and sometimes sublime jazz standards, with a blisteringly adventurous rhythmic sensibility. This album is the result of years of touring and an approach that strips down his complex, electronics-centric live sets to a simpler form.
