『スミス都へ行く』 ── ある州の上院議員が病死、ただちに後任議員の指名が行われることになった。陰謀を企てる州選出の有力上院議員ペインらは、政界の事情を知らないボーイスカウトの少年団長スミスを議員に祭り上げる。ところが、故郷ウィレット河の少年村の建設案をめぐって、スミスは彼らの不正に気づく。いったんは失望して帰郷を決意したスミスだが、秘書サンダースに激励され、翌日の会議でペインたちのダム建設案の不正を暴く勇気に満ちた名演説を始める。 『我が家の楽園』 ── 大富豪カービー家の跡取り息子トニーは恋人アリスの家を訪ね、自由奔放に暮らす彼女の家族に好感を持つ。その後、トニーの両親もアリスの家へ招かれることになった。だが、彼等はアリスのことを快く思っていない。ありのままの姿を見せて両親を納得させたいトニーは、わざと約束の日の前日に訪問することにした。これが裏目に出てしまい・・・。
