Description

"Pata Pata Hikousen no Bouken (The Adventures of Airship Pata Pata)" is based on the book by Jules Verne. It's the first anime ever to be made by a Japanese-Korean co-production. Directed by Yuichiro Yano (Animaniacs, Superman, and Cybersix), and production (including mechas) design by Kazuhide Tomonaga (Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro, Meitantei Holmes/Sherlock Hound). Set in the late 19th century, the show follows the fantastic adventures of our heroine Jane who is in search of her brother. Jane's big dream is to fly like a bird. Intro theme song, "Naked Sotry" by Garnet Crow, and the end-credit theme, "What Can I Do" by Michael Africk with Mai-K.

If "Laputa: Castle in the Sky" had been a television series instead of a movie, this would have been the result. The character and mechanical design shows influence of Miyazaki's work and the story is well-developed across all the episodes. Somewhat similar in story-telling scope to "Nadia", but with different subject matter and without the "Gilligan's Island" drop-off in the middle.
