He visited a comedy theater with 100 of his own compositions, where his talent was recognized and he became an apprentice writer, fulfilling his wish. However, Tuchiya's pursuit of only laughter and his deviation from the norm, without interacting with others, are not understood by those around him, and he ends up leaving the theater in the middle of his ambition. Despite his desperation, Tuchiya is unable to give up on laughter, and he tries to make a comeback as a "postcard craftsman" who submits material to a radio show. Tuchiya decides to move to Tokyo to become a postcard writer.

あの頃、何者かになりたかった全ての人へ――。笑いに憑りつかれた男の、魂震わす衝撃の実話。単なる奇人か、稀代の天才か。大喜利「レジェンド」、ハガキ職人、構成作家――。 笑いに取り憑かれた男の類い稀まれなる半生。――大阪。何をするにも不器用で人間関係も不得意な16歳のツチヤタカユキ (岡山天音)の生きがいは、"レジェンド"になるためにテレビの大喜利番組にネタを投稿すること。狂ったように毎日ネタを考え続けて6年――。自作のネタ100本を携えて訪れたお笑い劇場で、その才能が認められ、念願叶って作家見習いになる。しかし、笑いだけを追求し、他者と交わらずに常識から逸脱した行動をとり続けるツチヤは周囲から理解されず、志半ばで劇場を去ることに。自暴自棄になりながらも笑いを諦め切れずに、ラジオ番組にネタを投稿する"ハガキ職人"として再起をかけると、次第に注目を集め、尊敬する芸人・西寺 (仲野太賀)から声が掛かる。ツチヤは構成作家を目指し、上京を決意するが――。
