Description

David Cronenberg's second theatrical feature following "Shivers," is a fascinating tale of vampirism which has no resembrance whatsoever to any of the vampire films made before this, except perhaps for George A. Romero's "Martin". Stylistically speaking, "Rabid" must have been influenced by Romero's "The Crazies"too. Also this film has stunning similarities with Romero's "Dawn of the Dead" which came out exactly a year later, particularly in the scenes where the terror spreads out through a seemingly ordinary suburban backdrop. It stars the legendary adult film star Marilyn Chambers ("Behind the Green Door") as the heroine whose life was saved by an experimental surgery performed on her after a motorcycle accident.
