Description

"Ogawa no Hotori (At River's Edge)" is the third historical movie based on the novel series set in a fictional domain, Unasaka-han written by Shuhei Fujisawa. This novel has been lauded as one of his most significant works among other works such as "Yamazakura" and "Hana no Ato." Fujisawa is also an author of "The Twilight Samurai," "The Hidden Blade," and "Love and Honor." Stars Noriyuki Higashiyama and Rinko Kikuchi. Plot: Sakunosuke Inui gets an order from his master to kill Sakuma Morie, a samurai who is his friend and his younger sister Tazuru's husband. If Tazuru pulls a sword on him to protect her husband, he has to kill her. Sakunosuke suffers from the inherent conflict between duty and sentiment. . .

『山桜』『花のあと』に続く「海坂藩大全」からの映画化第三弾! 藤沢周平原作 家族の愛と絆に心うたれる最高傑作、待望の映画化! 主演は「山桜」の出演に続き東山紀之、そして日本人で存命するアカデミー賞ノミネート唯一の経験者、菊地凛子。脇を固める俳優陣に、歌舞伎界から海老蔵の代役で一躍全国区になった片岡愛之助と、若手俳優、映画にテレビに活躍中の勝地涼。「真幸くあらば」主演、10月からはNHK朝ドラの主演も決まった尾野真千子、そして笹野高史・松原智恵子・藤竜也などベテランも出演! ――海坂藩士・戌井朔之助(東山紀之)が受けた藩命は、親友の佐久間森衛(片岡愛之助)を討つこと。藩政を痛烈に批判して脱藩した佐久間への裁きだった。民を想って正論を訴えた友を斬らねばならぬのか-朔之助の心は揺れた。しかも佐久間は、妹・田鶴(菊地凛子)の夫。田鶴は武士の妻として、手向かってくるに違いない。妹を斬ってでも主命に従えと諭す父・忠左衛門(藤竜也)に、涙を流す母・以瀬(松原智恵子)。妻の幾久(尾野真千子)は夫の身を案じながらも、気丈に振る舞う。翌朝、朔之助は田鶴への想いを秘めた奉公人・新蔵(勝地涼)を連れ旅立つ。二人の隠れ家は、兄妹と新蔵が幼い頃に遊んだような、小川の辺にあった。遂に向き合う朔之助と佐久間。義と情の狭間で揺れ動きながらも背すじを伸ばして運命を受け入れようとする人間たちの「想い」の物語が、今、誕生する。
