Description

In 1948, three years after the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Mitsue continues to be tormented by enormous feelings of guilt for having been the only one in her family to have survived the deadly blast. One day, a young man comes into her life, but she is unable to concede that she deserves to be happy. That's when her father reappears. He is the best listener there can be, and he only thinks of his daughter's happiness. Slowly, Mitsue is liberated from her innermost torments and finally starts to move on with her life. Based on a play by the famous Japanese playwright, Hisashi Inoue, this moving film stars renowned actors Rie Miyazawa ("Ashura-jo no Hitomi" and "Tasogare Seibei"), Yoshio Harada ("9 Souls," "Azumi," and "Another Heaven") and Tadanobu Asano ("Vital," "Zatoichi," and "Electric Dragon 80,000 V"). Comes with a bonus disc containing making-of featurette, press conference footage, trailers, and more.
